First Lego league
All classes from Year 0-6 have LEGO for Education learning tools integrated into classroom programmes. Biannually all students participate in the LEGO League competition.
LEGO Education provides the engaging, hands-on experiences that students need in order to explore core STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) concepts and link them to their world. Solutions get more complex as students age, as they problem-solve and discover how science, technology, engineering, and maths are part of their everyday life.
Students learn STEM subjects while improving and developing their 21st-century skills, including problem solving, collaboration, and communication.
Year 1 and 2 participate in First LEGO League Junior which involves teams completing an inquiry project and building a model with Duplo.
Year 3 and 4 participate in First LEGO League Discovery which involves teams completing an inquiry project as well as building a LEGO model with a robotic element.
Year 5 and 6 participate in First LEGO League which involves teams completing an inquiry project as well as building and coding a robot to complete a series of challenges. Biannually students from the school competition go on to compete at a National competition.
LEGO Education is not just coding and robotics. Rather, it supports the development of Key Competencies and is an effective tool to support learning across curriculum areas.
